Corporate compliance programs are
well-established means of defining ethical behavior, fraud and abuse in
health care organizations. However, what you really want to know is how
these definitions translate to your day-to-day professional life. What
should you do, and what protections are there for you, if you report
something that doesn’t seem quite right?
Cultural Competence
Cultural Competence within a behavioral
healthcare system ensures an understanding, appreciation, and respect
of cultural differences and similarities within, among, and between
groups. De-Escalation
Our goal is to ensure a safe environment for
our participants at all levels of care.
All staff who have direct contact responsibilities with participants
must complete de-escalation training.
The best de-escalation procedure is to avoid escalation in the first
place. Participant behavior may become escalated when they are
presented with feelings, circumstances or situations with which they
are unable to cope.
Although treatment teaches healthier ways to cope, sometimes
participants may react using coping mechanisms developed in their
pasts.
